Hello All! We know, we know, you must be furious with us for being absent the past few weeks. For this we are truly sorry, however, we assure you we are justified. The reason, you ask? Well, we have been working on an exciting new project, a house on the water in Ocean Springs. We have some even more exciting news...we have decided to take you, lucky reader, along with us on this wild ride! The first stop on this design train will be the site visit. The site is absolutely breathtaking and this makes our job even more fun. The property overlooks the water on two sides, the Ocean Springs Harbor on one side, and Ocean Spring Front Beach on the other. The owner, who shall remain a mystery for now, wants a contemporary home, and we are happy to deliver.
To kick the project off we decided to spend a full day on site. We arrived at 9 AM fully armed with our drawing accouterments, a picnic lunch, and an open mind. We set about creating a makeshift model out in the grass to study the shadows throughout the day and have some fun with different massing studies. The site and the surrounding properties are chock full of native flora and fauna so we took a hike and documented the various wildlife. We stayed on site until 9 PM and came back bright and early (5 AM, eek!) with espresso in hand to watch the sunrise. Check out the photos below, think of it as a little teaser, and make sure you check back soon, as we will begin to show you just how the design process works!
