Big (Little) Progress

Whew!  It has been a busy few weeks and we are so excited to share some of the progress we have made.  Last time you saw the Airstream she had a new set of wheels (fancy!) and she was looking a little rough on the interior.  Well...the makeover has begun!

First, we stripped EVERYTHING out, sanded, patched, cleaned, and took precise measurements.  We have been discussing the interior for awhile now and we knew that the look we were going for was clean and fresh.  In order to achieve this, we had to give ourselves a solid foundation...or rather a lack of foundation?

The next step was to prime the stew out of this thing.  We went with a bonding primer that would stick to plastic and aluminum, and was thick enough to fill in holes and gaps.  This stuff was so thick that we likened it to vanilla pudding...hungry, anyone?  The bright white paint went on next, and two coats later we came out smelling like a rose.  Once the walls were dry we went ahead and laid the flooring.  We went with 1/4" birch plywood over the existing OSB subfloor.  The birch ply was easy to lay down and incredibly cost efficient.

We have started framing up the interior moment we are amazed that the walls are going up so speedily and the next we are cursing those compound curves.

Stay tuned...and give us a little feedback.  Like what you see?  Have a great storage solution?  Want to meet up with us on our travels?  Let us know!  We would love to hear from you!
